Chat Export & Search Privacy Policy

Chat Export & Search is a browser extension that saves and searches your own AI chat conversations. It was built so that your conversations stay on your computer. This policy says exactly what that means, and it matches what the extension's source code actually does.

• The conversations you choose to capture. When you click capture, the extension reads the conversation currently open in the tab, on chatgpt.com, claude.ai or gemini.google.com, and saves the text of that conversation.
• A short log of export times. A list of when you exported, kept only to enforce the free tier’s daily export limit. It is not shown in the interface.
• Your search terms. Typed into the extension’s own search box to filter your saved conversations.

The extension does not read any other page, any other tab, or any other site.

It stays in your browser:

The extension makes no network requests. It has no server, no account, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising. Nothing you capture, search or type is transmitted anywhere, and the developer cannot see any of it.

Nothing. No data is sold, shared, transferred or disclosed to any third party, because no data leaves your device.

• storage: to keep your export log, and the short-lived copy of a conversation being printed, inside your browser.
• Access to chatgpt.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com: these three sites are where the conversations you ask for live. The extension reads the open conversation on those pages only, and only when you trigger a capture.

If a future version adds a paid tier, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and it will name the payment provider and the data that provider receives. No paid tier is active today.

• Access: the conversations the extension saved are visible inside the extension, with two caveats. On the free tier the list and search show the 20 most recent captures, and the export log (when you exported, kept to enforce the free tier’s daily limit) is not shown in the interface.
• Delete: you can delete captured conversations from within the extension.
• Remove everything at once: uninstalling the extension removes its stored data, as does clearing the extension’s data in your browser settings.

Data is kept for as long as you keep it. There is no server-side copy and no retention period imposed by anyone else. Deleting a conversation in the extension deletes it.

Because nothing is transmitted, there is nothing in transit to intercept. Your saved conversations sit in your browser's own storage, protected by the same operating system account and disk protections as the rest of your browser profile.

This extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children.

If the extension's behaviour changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the date at the top will change.
