Alt Text & SEO Generator Privacy Policy

Alt Text & SEO Generator is a Shopify app, operated by ThynkQ, that writes alt text for a store's product images. This policy describes what the app reads, what it sends to a third party, how long it keeps things, and how a merchant can have everything deleted.

• Product data. The app requests the read_products and write_products scopes. It reads product images, image alt text, product titles and product types, and writes alt text back to product images.
• Your store’s domain and access token. Shopify issues these when the app is installed. They are stored so the app can make those Admin API calls on your behalf.
• The installing staff member’s Shopify user id, name, email address, locale and collaborator flag. Shopify includes these in the session it hands the app. They are stored with the session record and used only to keep the session valid.

• No customer data. The app never requests the read_customers scope, or any order, payment or checkout scope. It does not read customer names, emails, addresses, orders or payment details.
• No themes, no other apps, and no store settings beyond what the scopes above allow.

Generated alt text comes from Anthropic's Claude model. To produce it, the app sends Anthropic:

Anthropic fetches the image from that URL and returns the description. Anthropic receives the product image, its URL, which can include your store's domain, and the product title and product type listed above, and nothing else: no access token, no staff details, no customer data. Shopify itself processes the app's billing, if you subscribe to a paid plan, under Shopify's own terms and privacy policy. Crashes and errors are reported to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider. It receives the error message and the request it happened on, with the query string stripped; the request path can include your store's domain. No usage or performance tracing is sent, and no request headers, cookies or bodies. Sentry never receives access tokens or customer data. Nothing else is shared. The app does not sell data, does not use it for advertising, and does not share it with any other party.

• Your access token and session: for as long as the app is installed, and deleted when the app is uninstalled.
• Usage counters: a monthly counter of how many images have been processed, reset each billing period.
• Alt text awaiting your review: held in the browser session while you work through the review table, and not written to the app’s database at all; the app’s review table stays empty. When the session ends it is gone.

• Access: everything the app stores is visible in the app, or available from us on request.
• Deletion: uninstalling the app triggers Shopify’s app/uninstalled webhook, and the app then deletes the data it holds for your store: session, usage counters, and any stored review rows.
• Full erasure: the app implements Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks. shop/redact deletes the store’s remaining data, including usage counters. customers/redact and customers/data_request are implemented and answer for customer data, which the app does not hold.

Access tokens and session data are stored server side in the app's own database, reached only from the app's server over an authenticated connection and never from a browser. Alt text generation uses a server-side API key that is never sent to the browser.

This app is a business tool for merchants and is not directed at children.

If the app's data handling changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the date at the top will change.
